ProteusONE*, IBA compact proton therapy technologies expected to treat patients in 2014.

IBA has reached major milestones in the development of two key technologies to bring Proton Therapy to more patients and hospitals around the world.

The IBA Compact Gantry is a breakthrough device that will allow for unparalleled treatment quality both in precision and compassion for patient and staff. Its unique Gantry Mounted Energy Selection and Scanning Systems will permit the sharpest and most precise beam distribution to the tumor, while the Patient Centric Open Gantry design will allow for unprecedented patient access and comfort.

This gantry is entering in its final testing phase at our facility in Louvain-la-Neuve before shipping to the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.

The IBA Compact Synchrocyclotron is our answer to the need for smaller and more energy-efficient devices in the market. This accelerator recently attained major performance specifications in terms of field strength and stability, current dynamics and radio-frequency acceleration. This accelerator will be shipped later this year to the Centre Antoine-Lacassagne (CAL) in Nice, France.

These two revolutionary technologies are being combined with the 20-plus years of experience encompassed in the IBA Proteus technology to form the most advanced and compact Intensity Modulated Proton Therapy (IMPT) system in the world. It is expected to begin treating patients in 2014.
